Lillian Gaskin asked me to remind you that due to the fact that the Standing Committee on Medical Professional Liability only has a $5,000 annual budget, members can request to be reimbursed up to $500 for the Midyear Meeting in Chicago. If other entities, such as the Section of Tort and Insurance Practice or the House of Delegates, have or will provide you compensation that would be an enormous help to the Committee.

President Bush will propose initiatives in the health care area in his State of the Union Address tomorrow.
I understand that he will call for enactment of federal legislation to preempt state medical liability laws and cap pain and suffering awards.
I am attaching a fact sheet on this subject as an FYI. Please let me know if you have any questions.
